Verdicts and Published Decisions


Attorney Beres has appeared in numerous jury and bench trials, arbitrations, mediations and administrative hearings throughout the state.  She has written briefs submitted to Wisconsin’s circuit courts, Courts of Appeals and Supreme Court, as well as federal district courts and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. She has argued before the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.

Attorney Beres has represented health care defendants in cases involving a diverse array of patient care specialties, including cardiology, neurosurgery, nursing, obstetrics and wound care.  She has advocated for manufacturers of products ranging from consumer products to industrial equipment.  She advises clients regarding non-suit and pre-suit insurance claims according to the laws of the various states throughout the country where the claims are filed.

The following sampling of decisions reflects her advocacy before state appellate and federal courts:

  • WIREdata, Inc v. Village of Sussex, 2008 WI 69 (seeking affirmance of court of appeals’ determination that municipality’s independent contractor property assessor may not be held liable under Wisconsin’s open records law)
  • Kaul v. St. Mary’s Hospital-Ozaukee, 2005 WI App 214 (asking court, in part, to let stand jury verdict in favor of hospital in case involving pediatric treatment)
  • Hall v. Continental Casualty Company, 207 F. Supp. 2d 903 (W.D. Wis. 2002) (defending long-term disability insurer’s claim decision based upon policy language and medical facts)
